Leonardo da Vinci

Hello fellow artists!
I hope that you who follows this blog are loving art as much as i am. As i mentioned in my first post this is the beginning of something new! The art is going online and hopefully contributing to a new era in the art world. Since the human was born we have been painting. From the walls in caves, carved in stones and panting ceilings we now are going online. It is so exciting to be able to have an online exhibition of art. Today there is more that you can count in to art then only paintings. Videos, movies and stop motion are some of the things that i am hoping to show you some. When we started this blog about art the focus was mainly on canvas paintings but we are going to try out on sharing all kinds of art for your pleasure. What do you think about adding some dancing also? We do think that dance is a kind of art and that it would contribute with a lot of lovely feelings and videos to analyze. Please write a comment on what you prefer and we will take that in mind, of course you can also wish for some special kind of art or artist that you would want us to write about. Today we will start with some common knowledge about Mona Lisa and the Louvre. Louvre is a place that all art lovers must visit at least once in a lifetime, but be shore to pick a date where Mona Lisa in the saloon and not when se is on restoration. Because you have to see her in real life, the painting is not so big as you can think, but it sure is something special about.

Mona Lisa was painted by the great artist Leonardo da Vinci. As we have mentioned on the blog before we are going to have a introduction about him. Leonard da Vinci was born on the 15th of April 1452 nearby Toscana in Italy. When he was 14 years old he started his study at Andrea del Verrocchios studio where he learned a lot of things that would affect the rest of his life. He lived for 67 years anPainting by Leonardo da Vincid produced fine artwork, it is amazing if you think about for how long ago he painted some of the paintings that we still are able to enjoy. Leonardo was one of the most influential artist from the renaissance period. His most famous paintings is Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Leonardo did not only paint, he was also an inventor. He did some of the first suggestions of cars, bikes and planes. Leonardo has done some of the most important pre work for inventions that we use on a daily basis today.

Let’s talk about Mona Lisa then. Mona Lisa is the painting to the right and it was made by Leonardo during a few years. It is not certain exactly when he painted it, but it has been said between the years 1502-1516 before it was completely done. The special thing about Mona Lisa is her smile, the smile definitely holds some sort of secret that has been mesmerizing people for years now. The landscape behind her helps to increase the enigmatic feeling in the painting. The picture above is taken at the Louvre when we were there to look at it. The Louvre is a magnificent place to see and there are a lot of iconic art that you have to see when you are there. Except for Mona Lisa, two of the most famous pieces of art are Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world. I think we will leave it there and talk some more about the Louvre in our next post!
